2012 Book List

Here is a rundown of books that our club read in 2012, including the theme foods we ate that month at our meeting. Click on the books to learn more at Amazon.

JANUARY

Our book for January 2012 is Slapstick, by Kurt Vonnegut. It is a "Milo Pick."

Menu: Apple Brown Betty; peanut butter cookies; bread sticks and cheesy dip; chocolate cupcakes and peanut butter icing; chocolate-covered pretzel sticks; white bean hummus spinach-artichoke dip with crackers; smoked oysters; nuts; chips and salsa; salami/cheese roll with crackers




MARCH

Our book for March 2012 is Unbroken, by Lara Hillenbrand. It is a "Mark M. Pick."


Menu: biscotti, apricot tart, fresh fruit platter and fruit dip, bread and butter, spiced nuts, mini Italian sausage and pineapple kebobs, chips and salsa, and nuts


APRIL

Our book for April 2012 is The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris, by David McCullough. It is a "Judy Pick."

Menu: pesto pasta; fresh fruit salad; nuts; quiche Lorraine; croissants with blackberry jam, strawberry jam, cinnamon-sugar butter, and honey walnut cream cheese; eclairs


JULY

*2012 FOOD FOR THOUGHT PICK

Our book for July 2012 is The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein. It is a "Stacy Pick."

Menu: oatmeal-raisin cookies; veggies with dill dip; fresh fruit; nuts; crackers, cheese, hot dogs, and spiced mustard; brownies and whipped cream; oatmeal cookies; blueberry scones



AUGUST

Our book for August 2012 is Animal Farm, by George Orwell. It is a "Mark F. Pick."

Menu: apple crumb pie, coconut cream pie, apple cake, Dutch Babies, meats and cheeses and crackers and spreads, and sunflower seeds




OCTOBER

Our book for October 2012 is The Unforgiving Minute: A Soldier's Education, by Craig M. Mullaney. It is a "Pat K. Pick."

Menu: berry pie; veggies and dip; Heath bar cake; Chicken Tikka Masala won-tons; meats, cheeses, and crackers; mixed nuts




NOVEMBER

Our book for November 2012 is Brave Companions, by David McCullough. It is a "Pat M. Pick."

Menu: crackers and pimento and ham spreads; rosemary bread and butter; brown buttered noodles; chips and salsa; mixed nuts
