2014 Book List

Our book for January 2014 is The Bourne Identy, by Robert Ludlum. It is a "Karen Pick."

Menu: amnesia cake; homemade muffins and bread and garlic fig spread; Brie and Camembert cheeses, baguette and crackers; grapes; assorted meats, cheeses, and crackers; nuts

Our book for February 2014 is The List of Seven, by Mark Frost. It is a "Dave Pick."

Menu: "peasant meal" of breads, cheeses, apples, and sauerkraut; pears, Gorgonzola cheese and crackers; toffee bars; seven-layer dip and chips; "Mom's Homemade Biscuits" and various spreads (jam, cookie butter, etc.); veggies and bacon-horseradish dip; nuts.

Our book for March 2014 is Not Without Laughter, by Langston Hughes. It is a "Mark F. Pick."

Menu: chicken salad and whole grain bread; southern beans and rice; homemade biscuits with butter and apple butter; limeade; fresh fruit; lemonade.

Our book for April 2014 is A Prayer for Owen Meany, by John Irving. It is a "Mark M. Pick."

Menu: tuna salad; shrimp; munchkins; veggie tray and curry veggie dip; fresh guacamole and chips; cheese tray with assorted cheeses, stuffed olives, various salamis and various crackers; pasta salad

Our book for May 2014 is The Water Is Wide, by Pat Conroy. It is a "Pat K. Pick."

Menu: nuts; pita chips and edamame hummus; cheeses; dried meats; chow chow; corn salsa; red beet eggs; South Carolina "lowboil"; pulled pork barbecue with vinegar hot sauce and cole slaw; crab cake sandwiches with homemade tartar sauce

Our book for June 2014 is The Cellist of Sarajevo, by Steven Galloway. It is a "Sherri Pick."


Menu: breads jams; creamy potato and cheese soup with green onions and bacon; rye loaf with butter; chocolate cake; lemon bars; Burek; Ukranian bread and jams; prosciutto-wrapped cheese; cherries; and nuts

Our book for July 2014 is I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou. It is a "Stacy Pick."


Menu: watermelon, cucumber, and tomato salad; corn muffins, sweet potato muffins, and cinnamon butter and currant preserves; spicy beef sticks; pound cake with lemon icing; "arroz con pollo y chorizo con salsa verde"; barbecued, boneless pork ribs; and nuts; anti-potato salad potato salad

Our book for September 2014 is Where Angels Fear to Tread, by E.M. Forster. It is a "Pat M. Pick."

Our book for October 2014 is All the Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr. It is a "Jane Pick."


Menu: provençal stew and bread; Little Smokies in peach barbecue sauce; Brie cheese and crackers; German potato salad; nuts; lamb meatballs and homemade rye bread and butter; chocolate éclairs; cheesy potato broccoli soup with a béchamel base

Our book for November 2014 is A Study in Scarlet, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is a "Kate Pick."

Thank you to Pat Kilgore for the cheesecake, and of course, the nuts (Sherry, he seems to have the hang of this!). Thanks to the Mechams for the excellent cranberry nut bread and guacamole with chips. Thanks to Ron for the beautiful red velvet cupcakes. And thank you to Dave for the great sandwiches of smoked meats and cheeses
